Our History
As The Meemic Foundation has grown, we’ve never lost sight of our vision of supporting educators and funding the future of education. Here are a few significant milestones along our journey:
- In March 1992, The Meemic Foundation was established as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with resources provided by Meemic Insurance Company, a business founded in 1950 by a group of Michigan teachers.
- In the beginning, The Meemic Foundation only funded college scholarships.
- In 1999, The Meemic Foundation shifted its focus to provide grants for educators, enabling funding to reach more students.
- In April 2015, the free Meemic Foundation Club was created to provide club members exclusive access to key benefits like year-round grant opportunities, and our teachers-to-teachers resource library for classroom tips and strategies.
- Since the inception of the Foundation Club, millions of dollars have been dedicated to over 25,000 classrooms through grants from the Meemic Foundation.
Today & Tomorrow
The Meemic Foundation for the Future of Education continues to support the efforts of educators from kindergarten through higher education. We continue to partner with local educational communities to provide additional funding opportunities and other needed aid to advance the quality of education and strengthen resources for future generations.
